Terrence Wilson, AKA Coach “Sippi,” is a Recreation Specialist for the City of El Segundo Recreation & Parks Department who specializes in youth basketball – he is the epitome of good in Gundo and we’re more than happy to give him credit for just how impactful he is.
Sippi moved here from Mississippi (which is why his friends named him Sippi) at the start of 8th grade and graduated from El Segundo High School where his basketball passion & skills helped the ESHS basketball team win games – more importantly, his happy-go-lucky attitude lifted team spirits.
In addition to working at the El Segundo Teen Center, managing Summer Camps, and the Spark after-school program, Coach Sippi can be found in one of the ESHS gyms or at the Teen Center court helping youth learn the game of basketball. He’s also on the coaching staff of the ESHS JV basketball team.
When Sippi was a student at El Segundo High School he spent a lot of time at the El Segundo Teen Center and developed close relationships with the then Rec & Parks staff – after graduating ESHS, Sippi was offered a job working for the El Segundo Recreation & Parks Department.
A regular parent favorite, Coach Sippi’s cool, calm, collected, attitude is just what kids need when learning a sport. He has the skills to teach kids basketball fundamentals but it’s his warm-welcoming attitude that keeps kids anxiously returning for more basketball.

The immeasurable value Coach Sippi brings to each youth athlete he touches is arguably uncomparable. Coach Sippi, hands down, is a shining example of the good in Gundo.
What’s more, the character of Coach Sippi and other ES Rec & Park employees is a testament to the leadership of the City & the Recreation & Parks Department. The ES Rec & Parks Department Staff is full of passionate, caring individuals whose mission is to enrich the lives of El Segundo residents.
People, after all, are the lifeblood of any organization – our Recreation & Parks Department deserves a big pat on the back as well! Thank you, ES Rec & Parks – you DO enrich our lives here in El Segundo!
