Intro

What’s going on, El Segundo? This weekend, the answer is probably “not much”! South Bay events are (for once!) few and far between, giving us a chance to recuperate from Christmas and get ready for the next big day: New Years Eve!

Make the most of this quiet weekend by enjoying Yoga on the Roof at the Crowne Plaza or taking the kids to a fun and festive Frozen sing-along! This weekend is also a good time to take a last peek at Candy Cane Lane or Sleepy Hollow, or to enjoy an afternoon of ice skating. LA Zoo Lights are also still up and running through January 6th!

Whatever you do, don’t forget to plan for a fabulous New Year’s celebration! Parties, fireworks, and fun are scheduled for the 31st from Hermosa to downtown Los Angeles. Read on for what’s happening near you on New Years Eve 2018!

South Bay NYE 2018 Lineup

Hermosa Beach

Hermosa is one big party on New Years Eve. Head over to Pier Plaza for 2 live countdowns and music by Lou Giovannetti and his Big Band.

The Lighthouse will feature the Time Bomb band starting at 9 p.m., While Saint Rocke is hosting a Billy Idol cover band & Wayward Sons. Tickets to the Saint Rocke event are $60 for general admission, $90 for VIP which includes champagne, passed appetizers and a dessert bar. Tables are $150.

Standing Room also plans to have a live local band starting at 9 p.m. with no cover fee. For a 4-course dinner, Hermosa’s Sharkeez only charges $41.99! Tower 12 also offers an open bar for $50/person. For $40, you can also attend a New Years Eve Ball at Alta House, with multiple levels of dance floors!

Redondo Beach

Redondo is no stranger to fun either, with the Shade Hotel hosting a “multi-level, Brazillian-style New Years Eve Bash”! Tickets are $125 per person and include traditional, Brazilian inspired hors d’oeuvres, a decadent dessert display, champagne, and a variety of live entertainment. For a cheaper night out, The Slip offers karaoke, fun, and food, for only $20.

Manhattan Beach

Manhattan’s Shade Hotel is scheduled to host “Midnight in Macau“, also priced at $125/person. Sharkeez on Highland will also be hosting a NYE party including an open bar, with tickets starting at $40/person.

More Ideas!

For the deluxe treatment, drive up the hill to Palos Verdes’s Terrenea Resort. Their popular NYE Extravaganza always sells out, despite the $175 general admission price tag. The entertainment even includes acrobats!

There’s plenty going on around Los Angeles on New Years Eve, but very little of it is family-friendly. Marina del Rey’s “Glow” celebration is a welcome exception. Beginning at 7 pm, families can enjoy face painting, music, dancers, crafts, and two 10 minute fireworks displays. The event is free aside from $8 for parking. No alcohol permitted!

Happy New Year from eGundo!

Whatever your plans, we encourage you to have fun and be safe. New Years Eve is one of the most celebrated nights nationwide, but it’s also one of the most dangerous on the road. Always drink responsibly, opting for a designated driver or Uber ride to keep yourself and our local roads safe. It’s been a great year, and we hope 2019 brings more growth and good fortune to the El Segundo community. Happy New Year!
