The El Segundo Girls Softball 8U, 10U, and 12U All-Star teams are battling against 108-degree heat and 162 teams in Lancaster, CA, in the double-elimination USA Softball California B State Tournament.
This year, the 8U, 10U, and 12U All-Star teams qualified for the tournament – a feat very few leagues were capable of doing at this level of play (in fact, the highest level of play you can find in the Rec Ball world). According to league President Matt McMillon – “most leagues only qualified one or two of their divisions to make it to the tournament.”
Opening ceremonies kicked off last night, July 6, 2018, with each Gundo Girls team (and all 162 teams) being announced and receiving a gift. In tournament tradition, each of the 162 teams arrives donning costume attire – our Gundo Girls sported M&M costumes with their number and nickname on the back.
The 8U and 10U Gundo Girls both went 1-1 on Friday, July 6, 2018, with the 12U team losing a close one finishing 0-1.
no matter the outcome, we couldn’t be more proud of our ESGS players playing here and representing El Segundo.
