eGundo.com’s mission is to explore the good in Gundo and a big part of the good in Gundo is the people that live here. We recently had the opportunity to talk with Emad Michael from St. Antony Pharmacy in El Segundo to learn more about who he is and why he’s a shining example of the good in Gundo.
1. Can you give us an overview of your journey in life?
I was born in Cairo Egypt 1971. I came from humble beginnings my father passed away when I was younger, and my mother raised me and my sister.
I always enjoyed sciences such as chemistry and botany as a child. I was fascinated with pharmacology and the science behind cures and helping people, which lead me to join pharmacy school in Cairo where I graduated.
2. Can you give us a brief overview of your work history?
I have served the El Segundo community for the past 17 years. I was the pharmacy manager at Rite Aid on Grand for the first seven years and immediately fell in love with El Segundo and its people.
I knew if I was to ever go into business for myself I would love to serve the El Segundo community. Its very difficult to describe myself but I enjoy and I have a passion for helping the community I serve and its people. My true happiness is when I am able to help out and make a true difference in a person’s life by helping them and serving them to the best of my ability. In my line of work, it’s not about the bottom dollar or just money, it’s about compassion and true human interaction.
3. Can you tell us more about St. Antony Pharmacy and your company’s mission?
St Antony Pharmacy has one mission, which is very simple. Patient satisfaction with true compassion.
We are different from our competitors for many different reasons. One of them is that we do free delivery from Playa Del Rey all the way to Palos Verdes. Another is that I’m always available to answer any of your questions and always make myself available should you call. My goal is to get you in and out as quick as possible and accommodate you to the best of my ability. Basically, I am here for this community and I find true pleasure in serving it and I really enjoy what I do.
4. St. Antony Pharmacy is a regular stop for local sports team sponsorships – can you share some stories about teams you’ve sponsored and why you continue to sponsor local teams?
We love supporting the community and that means local sports teams.
I saw all these children grow up when they came in as toddlers with their parents. Throughout the years I saw them grow and I was there when they were sick and I tried to help them get better. So how can I not be there when they are having fun and playing sports?
We share the bad times and the good times that’s what a community is about.
5. Can you share something about you that people might not know?
I’m very interested in world history and I do a lot of reading about many different cultures and their histories.
6. What does El Segundo look like 20 years from now?
I believe El Segundo will be a very vibrant city. It’s a unique city many big-name businesses which keeps it strategically and geographically in demand.

I don’t have a favorite. One thing about this city is the many great options we have here. Different cuisines and many great selections.
3. What’s your favorite event in Gundo?
My favorite event in El Segundo is movie night in the park.
4. Can you share an example of the “Good” in Gundo?
Well one time an El Segundo firefighter offered to pay the copayment for an elderly patient when the patient did not have enough money. That truly gives you hope that there are many great and kind people still out there.
