eGundo.com’s mission is to explore the good in Gundo and a big part of the good in Gundo are events like the Beauty and the Beach Annual Beach Clean-up hosted by the El Segundo Kiwanis Club.
For the 18th consecutive year, the Beauty and the Beach Annual Clean-up event takes place this Saturday, June 2, 2018 at El Segundo Beach from 9am-noon. The El Segundo Kiwanis Club, NRG, the El Segundo Ed! Foundation, and El Segundo Power LLC is hoping El Segundo residents participate in cleaning the trash and debris from El Segundo Beach (end of Grand Ave).
Event Summary
The El Segundo Kiwanis Club and NRG organize a beach cleanup once a year that starts at Grand Beach and continues down south until the NRG plant. The community comes together to clean the trash and debris from the beach to keep El Segundo clean and beautiful. The beach cleanup is June 2nd at 9 AM and continues until noon. There is a BBQ and program including showcasing art from the kids of our community.
Why the Beauty and the Beach Annual Clean-up was created
The El Segundo Kiwanis Club’s primary focus is to improve the lives of the children of our community. Steve Odabashian of NRG spearheads the organizing and without him, we wouldn’t have this great event that both keeps our beach beautiful and raises money to benefit the children of our community.
A Perfect Example of the Good in Gundo
The Beach Cleanup is a fundraiser for the El Segundo Kiwanis Club, which has given over half a million dollars to benefit children in our community over the last decade. In addition to raising funds, it also encourages members of our community to get out and see our beach while making a difference by cleaning it up.
How do you see the event evolving over the next five years?
We would love to see the event grow over the next five years to be something that everyone in the community turns out to attend. The more people that we can get involved, the more funds will be raised for the children of our community and the cleaner our beach will be.
