El Segundo Varsity Softball Defeats Dos Pueblos
On Tuesday, May 7, 2019, the El Segundo Varsity Softball team defeated Dos Pueblos (19-7-1) in El Segundo 6-0. You could hear the cheering from Stevenson Field as the El Segundo High School Boys Varsity Baseball team took on Arcadia in their CIF game. According to Coach Megan McCann, “Everyone stepped up today.” Pitcher Kaili Reitano dominated the game allowing zero runs on a three-hit shutout without 12 strikeouts and the Eagles offense proved too much for Dos Pueblos scoring three runs in the fourth inning and three more in the sixth inning.
According to the DailyBreeze, Dos Pueblos approached El Segundo before the game stating that it had proof (video) of an illegal pre-game batting practice and was planning on filing an appeal with the CIF-SS with the hopes of reversing the outcome of the game. A representative from the El Segundo team “denied any wrongdoing, saying it took only side-toss batting practice, which is allowed by the CIF-SS.” We’ll update you as we learn more about this appeal.
