ESLL Now 2-0, Defeats Defending Champions RBLL 6/26/18
On Tuesday, June 26, 2018, the ESLL All-Stars defeated defending champion Redondo Beach Little League 4-3 in a 2nd round winners bracket game with the winner advancing to the Semi-Final game tonight at 6 pm.
ESLL scored in the 1st inning on a fielding error to take a 1-0 lead, RBLL came right back to tie the game with a home run in the bottom of the 1st inning. Then a classic pitching duel between both teams. Lucas Bonham’s three-run home run was the difference in the game as ESLL squeaked out a great victory 4-3 over RBLL.
The El Segundo pitching tandem of Dylan Garcia and Dylan Immel were fantastic allowing only three runs on six hits with five strikeouts.
The offensive was lead by Brett Abitante 2 for 2, with 2 runs scored & Lucas Bonham 1 for 3, 3 run HR.
As in the opening round game, defense and pitching were on full display at the Brett Field. The pitching staff led by James Baldino & Dylan Garcia has been superb. The defense has been outstanding with the outfield defense being lead by Holden Coulter and Mateo Heredia, but not to be outdone the infield defense has been fantastic and it is anchored SS Dylan Immel and 3B Dylan Alcala.
Winner of Tonight’s Game Guarantees Spot in Championship Game
Both ESLL and LBLL are 2-0 – If ESLL wins tonight’s game they’re automatically placed in the Championship game to be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018. If ESLL loses tonight’s game they’ll have one defeat in a double-elimination tournament and will have to win their next game in the loser’s bracket to proceed to the Championship game.
In theory, if ESLL wins tonight and LBLL wins their next game in the loser’s bracket, ESLL and LBLL will face-off again in the Championship game.
Congrats, ESLL 12U All-stars – play hard, make them remember El Segundo Little League!
