The El Segundo 10U Gold All-Star Team is on a run and they’ve put in their work!
They’ve competed in eight tournaments so far (Camarillo, Santee, Laguna Niguel, Escondido, and La Mirada & Districts/States) and they’re now competing in the Western National Championship Tournament in Camarillo with their next game today at 2 pm.
The 10U Gold All-Stars is comprised of players from four 10U division teams here in El Segundo. Most teams in this Tournament draw from a league size of 8+ teams.
To get to the Western National Championship tournament, the 10U Gold All-Star team started their journey playing in a group of 13 teams in Districts and placed 2nd. They lost back-to-back Championship games against Torrance who hasn’t lost a tournament this year.
Their next journey landed them in Lancaster, CA, for the State Tournament which included playing four games in one day in 110-degree weather. That day started at 8:00 am for the girls and ended at 9:30 pm (with breaks in-between games). They finished the tournament with a 4-2 record.
El Segundo had three All-star teams this Summer – 8U All-Stars, 10U All-Stars, and 12U All-Stars. The 8U All-Stars and 10U All-Stars qualified for Districts and played in the State Tournament in Lancaster as well with each team finishing in the top six.
Western National Championships
The 10U Gold All-Stars advanced to the Western National Championships in Camarillo, CA, which started yesterday, August 2, 2018. The 10U Gold All-Stars started the tournament by beating an Orcutt 10U team 14-0 but lost their next game to tournament favorite Irvine 4-1.
This is a double-elimination tournament with the 10U Gold All-Stars now competing in the loser’s bracket. Their next game is today at 2 pm against the Oakland Vipers.
If the 10U Gold All-Stars win today they’ll play tomorrow against the Orangecrest 10U team – should they win against Orangecrest they could play up to 3 more games tomorrow and up to 5 more to win the Tournament with their first game against powerhouse Ventura.
