Summer’s not over yet!

With the temperatures next week rising into the mid-eighties, families across town need a cool mid-day escape. Urho Saari Swim stadium is El Segundo’s go-to location for aquatic fun. The stadium earned its name from Urho Saari, a beloved swim coach who began teaching there in the 40s.

Over the following 30 years, he led his water polo teams to 12 championships and coached the US Olympic Water Polo Team twice. Upon his retirement, the stadium was renamed in his honor. It also came to be affectionately nicknamed “The Plunge”.

With such a long history of coaching excellence, it’s no wonder the stadium is still an El Segundo staple. The Plunge offers both private and group swim lessons for all ages throughout the year. If you’re just aiming to relax in the pool or get in some laps, see below for the current open swim schedule.
