2018 El Segundo Aloha Open: Fighting Cancer with Fun

Get ready for the 1st Annual El Segundo POA Aloha Open!

eGundo is all about showcasing people and events that make a difference in our community. On Saturday, August 27th, the El Segundo Police Officers’ Association and the Sunday Crew are joining forces to battle cancer with a charity golf tournament.

Entitled “Handcuffing Melanoma”, the tournament benefits the ESPOA and Melanoma research. Melanoma is a very common form of skin cancer that is predicted to affect nearly 100,000 people and take 9,320 lives in the US this year.

Skin cancer has a strong correlation to sun exposure, so it’s likely that we all know a friend, family member, or sunny South Bay neighbor who has been touched by melanoma. By bringing awareness to the condition and providing research funding, participants in the Aloha Open are doing their part to fight cancer and help those affected by it.

Foursomes are $700 and single entries are $185. Registration includes a custom Sunday Crew UPF 50+ polo shirt and socks.

What to expect at the event: 

• Hole In One contest to win a trip to the 2019 Masters Tournament (6 day/5 night package including airfare and accommodations)
• 4-Person Scramble
• Longest drive contest
• Closest to the pin contest
• Banquet at the Standard Station in El Segundo following the tournament
• And lots more fun!

If you’re unable to play but would like to help out, individuals, non-profits, and business owners are welcome to sponsor the 2018 ESPOA Aloha Open. 50% of all proceeds will go to the Melanoma Research Foundation, while the rest benefits the El Segundo Police Officers’ Association. The Association is highly active in the El Segundo community, supporting local charities and events.
